​These stand alone position papers are part of the larger Oxford Handbook of Musician Health Advocacy project and will guide the direction of relevant chapters in the handbook (Judy Palac, Kris Chesky, Bridget Rennie-Salonen, and Sarah Hoover, Eds)
This group's work will converge around the challenge of health promotion in tertiary music schools.

Purpose:
To agree on a set of broad guidelines and recommendations regarding health education in all tertiary music schools across the world.
​
The convergence activities for this group will be lead by Raluca Matei, PhD, Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Performing Arts and Health (the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University)
Projected timeline includes online meetings and work towards one position paper output for 2025 PAMA in Washington, DC. Preliminary ideas will be presented at PAMA London (July 17-22, 2024)

Why are we doing this?
To support health advocacy efforts for collegiate musicians. This stand alone position paper will support the objectives of the Oxford Handbook of Musician Health Advocacy through informing the relevant chapters.
The objectives of the handbook include:

Rationalizing/justifying the need for specific roles, responsibilities, and competencies of key clinical, allied health, and educational professionals working in, with, or for a tertiary music school on behalf of the health of student musicians

Projecting a health promoting vision for tertiary music schools

Recommending action and potential strategies for implementation and accountability​​​​​
